The POOCH PACK 2020 is something very special. 56 AMAZINGLY different Doggos ventured into the Zanzo Studio in Hobart over the course of a few months and had their portraits made. There was lots of treats, a few nervous wees (the dogs did some of those too) and lots of hair and dribble to be cleaned. Also, a concerned neighbour worried about the funny noises Dean makes to grab their attention… anyway… The result? The coolest PACK of cards ever made! Well, that’s what we think anyway :)
Buy one for yourself and a friend, your neighbour, your dog sitter or the people you see at the dog park every weekend. Who wouldn’t love one? They’re here in Hobart ready to collect, or be shipped direct to you well in time for Christmas :)
We also invented a card game called THNAP! which is explained on one of the bonus cards. (Well, we modified an old classic anyway) It’s loads of fun!
We are so thankful to all the wonderful doggos and their humans for getting involved in something so unknown - your support and that of everyone who buys a PACK is amazing.

FAQ:
What is this “POOCH PACK” project all about? We love dogs. They are sooooo much fun to photograph both on their own and in the context of their families. We thought why not make another calendar or book? … then we thought we’d push the limits a bit and try something new, so here we are. Making a PACK of 52 of Tassies most loved POOCHes! (plus a few jokers 🙂 )
We are all about photographing people and their pets in a way that represents who they are without the confines or 'perfect posing'. This often means shoots can get a little bit hectic - never more so than when dogs are involved. This isn't a daunting prospect for us though - it’s actually super fun! We are donating all the participation fees with the aim to raise $3,000 for the Guide Dogs of Tasmania.
What is in it for me? Your $50 participation fee is a direct donation to help raise much needed funds for Guide Dogs of Tasmania. You will also have 1 image of your POOCH in the PACK of playing cards, you’ll have a series of priceless portraits made by one of Tasmania’s premier portrait artists, AND you’ll also have the opportunity to purchase photographs from your photography session and get some amazing wall art for your home. Additional costs likely - if you love the images we make for you, you’ll probably want to buy them! Doing so isn’t compulsory though. We can chat more about this at your obligation-free planning appointment which is the first step to getting involved.
When can we have the shoot? During normal studio operating hours: Monday - Friday, 9:30-5:00 or so. We also have a couple of after hours sessions each week to try and make it easier for everyone to get along. If you would like our school holiday sessions times best get in quick - they book out super fast! First step is your planning appointment where we get to meet you and find out a bit more about the personalities in your family. You also get a chance to have a look through the studio and ask any questions you might have. This means on the day of the shoot you’ll all be super relaxed.🙂
Who is the photographer? Dean Mansbridge is the owner here at Zanzo and will be your photographer. He's long been known as a 'child whisperer' for his innate ability to make BFFs with pretty much every child that comes to visit the studio. He's pretty handy with pups too. His last pet focused project - POOCH! won an International Gold award and the best Not-for-Profit calendar at the World Calendar Awards. It also raised over $4000 for Brightside Farm Sanctuary. He’s a little bit proud of that!
Can I have all the family photographed? Absolutely! We will be happy to photograph the whole family at no extra cost, we recommend you take full advantage of the photography session. More pets or more people = More fun for us!
Can I purchase photographs? Yes, of course we will give you the opportunity to purchase photographs. Chances are we’ll make heaps of great images at your shoot to try and get a single great image for the PACK… Personalised, photographic wall art of your fur baby would make an AWESOME addition to your home. At your planning appointment (before the actual photography session) we'll discuss all of our products and pricing with you to figure out what might suit you best. Will my photograph definitely be in the PACK? Yes! All those who pay their participation fee, are photographed (obviously), and return for their slideshow presentation/ordering appointment will be in the PACK but it is limited obviously to how many we can get in a deck.
Do I get to choose the photograph to be included? Our graphic designer gets the final say in which image goes into the PACK, but they will choose from YOUR list of favourites which you will create at your ordering appointment. This just ensures that the design of the PACK is balanced.
When will the PACK be available for purchase? We expect that this project will be finished in time for Christmas presents so let’s cross our fingers for November 2020. We will keep in touch with all participants to let them know where we are up to in the design and publishing cycle.
How much will the actually PACK of card cost? Gotta be honest… we’ve never done this before so there are a few unknowns… It will really depend on how many pre-sales we get. Like most things, they become cheaper the more you buy. Probably somewhere between $15-$30.
Note - if you are under the age of 18 you must find an adult to apply for you and they must be present at all of your appointments.
