Winner of our $1000 giveaway - Family portraits in the Hobart Studio

So, we we're out at Eastlands a while back running a bit of a competition and these beautiful people managed to win themselves $1000 credit. How good is that!? 

They brought their dog along for some pawtraits (see what I did there?) too. He was a pretty funny dude. 

They won a holiday package worth 10k a while back. Crazy lucky! You've got to be in it to win it hey!  

The girls were awesome and really played it up for the camera. Not really the shy type these two ;)

13 and 8 they are. Really cool time for some family portraits before they grow too cool for school. These two won't though. They loved the experience a little too much :)

Best buddies - hobart studio children's Portraits

It doesn't happen all that often but sometimes people will bring in their besties for some portraits in the studio too. Why not? The more the merrier I reckon! 

The grown-up besties had a turn too. It's not all about the kids!

Not a spelling error - a play on words - meet the Marr boys:

These boys are just so CUTE hey!? They are 3 months old here and have booked in their 6 month shoot as a part of the Zanzo Babies 1,2,3 program. (Great baby shower gift idea that, nudge nudge wink wink) ;)

I couldn't tell them apart but even dad struggled so I didn't feel too bad about it. Can't wait to watch them grow. I photographed their big sister a few year back. Here she is in 2011...

Looking forward to getting them all together when the boys are 1. Should be heaps of fun! 

Double Trouble - Hobart twin family portraits -

These girls were so much fun it is ridiculous! 

These 3 year old faeries kept me well entertained for one beautiful afternoon in July. We had a play in their backyard creating some pretty awesome pictures before a brief snack and then a walk to the park.

Branson came for a walk too. He is a beautiful dog who was very well behaved... most of the time. We slipped our way across the muddy soccer field and went exploring the dunes at Nutgrove Beach. 

So, I know my 2 year old boy loves throwing rocks... but there two could do it all day if we let them! The light was fading and it was time to head back home, so we threw one more and headed back to the playground for a little play. 

Spending time like this with families is so special for me. I love creating portraits of kids and their families in the studio but being able to hang out for an hour or so while you do what you normally do is just a really cool way to create some relaxed and natural family portraits.  (As I write this it is bucketing down outside and I'm glad my next shoot is here in the studio - but you get the point! ;P)

Coopers - a different family portrait

Every family is different and your family portrait should be about celebrating that.  

Like these guys... 

Last time these guys were in the studio, Fletcher (the dude on the scooter) was in his mums tummy and Lance, (the tall one) was smiling. He still smiles a bit. Actually he his pretty happy to have another little boy. 

Fletch is now 4 and super awesome. He is kinda partial to this little thing called Ultra Magnus. If you don't know what that is you might have to google it.  

Newborn Lennox is one chilled out baby. We've hung out a few times and I still haven't heard him cry.

The Cox family - studio family portrait, Hobart

I have a soft spot for this beautiful family, Maybe because they are from Adelaide (like me) or maybe just because they were just so nice to work with ... I'm not sure exactly. Anyway, they are gorgeous.  

It's awesome when dad's love to take the time to play with their kids. I really love these type of fun and natural moments in the studio.

Winter Light - Hobart Family Portraits

Tasmania is such a beautiful place all year round - especially in winter. This little family are not too far away from become 1 third bigger so they thought we should hang out to make some family portraits to celebrate who they are right now. 

St David's Park was just beautiful in the late afternoon and a great place for a bit of a run around. 

After a bit of a play we headed into Al's favourite place to hang out, the Royal Tennis Club across the road. Guys, if you don't know anything about Royal Tennis, you have to google this sport - it is awesome! Not a bad place for a very different family portrait either!

Can't wait to meet baby number two early in the new year! Thanks for being awesome guys. xx

Daddy Daughter Day

It's been a hectic school holidays so far with stacks of awesome families coming to visit me in the studio and a handful of fun location shoots too. I'll be sharing some of their stories here in the next few weeks.

Today I have a very special visitor who loves to hang out with Dad - especially during school holidays. Due to an unwell client (hope you get better soon!) I had a spot in the diary this morning which we managed to fill with some constructive activities ;)

Poppy has a big day tomorrow... It's unbelievable to think she is turning 6! I remember the day she was born like it was yesterday. I'll cherish the tears of joy and laughter we have shared since then or the rest of my life.

She is gorgeous, funny, crazy, a complete dork, a sook and a sweet-heart; and that's what makes her my Daughter.

Blogging from my phone. That's pretty clever huh?

Well, I haven't done the blog thing since 2008 but here I am! I wonder if I remember how to do it??... We'll find out soon enough I suppose.

New website is done and live and exciting. I have that 'change is as good as a holiday' feeling, kinda like new sheets or a new pair of trackies.

New website

Well this is a little bit exciting now isn't it? I've been building the new Zanzo website for the past few days and it's nearly ready. We've had the same one for the past four years and not updated it for probably 3!  

It's been a long time coming and I really quite happy it's nearly here!
